We provide computational design techniques on roadway, railway and bridge alignments. Our techniques significantly reduce the drawing production time for possible design changes and all updates can be reflected in the drawings on a semi-automated workflow. This workflow can be implemented in a comprehensive BIM environment and at the end of the design process, BIM futures (such as quantity and material takeoffs) are applicable to the entire project.
For the existing condition of roadways, we provide terrestrial and mobile scanning.
Our roadways scanning services are included but not limited to the services as follows:
Detection of surface features such as buildings, curbs, driveways, islands, pedestrian ramps, parking aprons, fences, jersey barriers, walks, ramps striping, columns, walls, freestanding lighting, signage, and visible street hardware. We also detect visible expansion joints in the pavement, ROWs, location of visible surface utilities such as manholes, catch basins, valves, vaults, utility poles, pedestrian & traffic signals, overhead wires, and free-standing lighting, and the locations of individual trees.
BIMNYC staff also provided laser scanning and BIM services on operational railways, tracks, and railway bridges and prepared reports for rehabilitation design. Dynamic hanging of the trains, rails and track elevations, and trains movement simulations were utilized into the design phase.
